In the beginning...

Hello,

My name is Patrick Egan, and I am currently writing a novel titled, "Get Happy". The purpose of this blog is to give updates as they occur about my daily writings, (Yeah, right...I wish my writings were "daily"), and my daily musings, (those, on the other hand, appear with such frequency that I fear I don't have the time or space to accommodate them all).

Let me begin with the basics: "Get Happy" is the first person account of a rather traumatic period in the life of a man named Daryl Gleason. Just about everything that Daryl thought was real in his life has seemed to crumble around him, and he is now both unable, and unwilling, to accept why any of these recent events are happening. Such as, why does his wife want to divorce him? Or, does she? Why would his grandfather, the man didn't seem to give a damn about Daryl when he was raising him him as a child, leave him millions of dollars in his will?


And why can he suddenly communicate with his neighbor's dog?


I hope this sounds like an interesting story. I am already very deep into the first draft, which I hope to have completed sometime in the fall of 2010. After that, it's editing down, followed by "Time to find an agent". But for now; I must get back to writing.
